Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about a legendary shinobi in Naruto that you most probably don’t know about. Of course, the name is something that you all are familiar with, but the hyped characters like Hashirama Senju, Minato Namikaze and such, usually cause the fandom to overlook the feats of other powerful shinobi that have existed in the past.
Today, I want to talk about Hanzo of the Salamander. Hanzo was a legendary shinobi from Amegakure. He was one of the strongest ever characters in the history of the series. Hanzo was introduced to us during the arc where Jiraiya went to investigate on Pain. At that point, it was mentioned that Hanzo was one of the Strongest shinobi to have ever lived.
Even Jiraiya was surprised when he found out that Hanzo was dead, and Pain overthrew him. In his prime, Hanzo had defeated even the strongest of Shinobi. He had taken on Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade and a platoon of Konoha ninjas all alone, and emerged victorious. Such was his skill. Lots of people say that the Sannin weren’t actually at full power back then, but that isn’t true. They were all at their prime during the 2nd Great Ninja War.
Hanzo was the one who named them the Legendary Sannin. Much of his skill is overlooked because Pain was able to kill him. So, a lot of people just assume that Pain was indeed stronger than him, which would in turn mean that Hanzo wasn’t as strong as he was made out to be. Again, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Pain killed Hanzo years after the 2nd Great Ninja War, and close to the beginning of the Naruto series. It was after the 3rd Great Ninja War, and probably close to when Jiraiya died. Maybe a couple of years before that. At that point, Hanzo had already left the life of a Shinobi. He was old, and he was no longer a Ninja. Attacking someone who isn’t a ninja, and ambushing him doesn’t really imply that he beat Hanzo.
They never even fought. Pain literally assassinated him, and all his family and relatives. If Hanzo would’ve been in his prime, and still a Shinobi, the battle would’ve gone differently, and I’m not sure if Pain could’ve taken him on at all. Pain could’ve killed him right after the 2nd Great Ninja War. But he didn’t. Why did he wait until Hanzo was old, and weak? The answer is because he knew it was difficult to beat him alone. I know Naruto series has a lot of tremendous shinobi, but some just get forgotten when others are overhyped by the fans, which is really annoying.
Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about an interesting fantheory that a not a lot of people know about. Of course, as you as see, the theory is about Neji, and Rock Lee. Both of them were introduced in Naruto part 1, and have become very important characters since then. Neji did die during the 4th Great Ninja War, but Rock Lee became a powerful Jonin, and is one of Konoha’s strongest right now.
Back when they were introduced, everyone wanted to see what they were capable of. We got to see their abilities back in the Chunin Exams, and it is safe to say that both of them impressed a lot. But as Naruto progressed, they lost their importance. In Naruto Shippuden, we didn’t really get to see them do anything.
They were a part of the first arc, and later, slowly they lost relevance. Even during the 4th Great Ninja War, they didn’t do much. They had minor battles against the 10 Tails, and then Neji finally was at the end of the road, and he died. Was that good character development? I don’t think so.
Kishimoto handled the characters very badly. Some fans have speculated that Kishimoto actually never wanted Lee and Neji to make that far in the series. That’s right! He actually wanted to kill them off way back in the end of Part 1, according to some fans. Kishimoto doesn’t shy away from killing off characters. He basically killed a little boy, Haku, in the very first arc in a dark manner. So if he wanted to, he could’ve killed off Rock Lee and Neji.
So what stopped him from killing off Lee, and Neji in the first part of the series? Well, there could be lots of them, but I think it is down to the editors of Naruto.
